Dogs are social animals, and a friendly dog in a stressful situation would never attack or bite. However, many cases of individuals bitten by dogs belie this. Thus, it is important to know how to prevent dogs from biting. If you want to own a dog or already own one and you want to prevent dogs from biting anyone, there are two things you need to remember: first, you have to train your dog to be friendly; and second, you have to avoid putting him in stressful situations. Dogs feel stressed by unfamiliar objects, people or places, or by unpredictable behavior.

However, the degree of unfamiliarity and unpredictability is different from dog to dog. In a crowd, some dogs are friendly to strangers while others are not. What spells the difference between these dogs isn’t breed but how well they were raised. Thus, you can prevent dogs from biting if you properly train your dog.

How to prevent dogs from biting Although there is no guarantee that your dog will never attack or bite anyone, these six tips will significantly reduce the risks of your dog attacking or biting someone:
1. Familiarity with people and environment will help you to prevent dogs from biting. Create positive and pleasant encounters for your dog with objects, people and places within the first 8 to 16 weeks of his life, especially with those he would likely encounter during his lifetime. To prevent dogs from biting introduce them immediately to various kinds of objects in your house and outside your house (e. g. your vacuum cleaner), to various kinds of people (e. g. the postman), and to various kinds of environments (e. g. your car). Introduce him also to grooming, to the vet, and to other animals, especially other dogs. Some dogs don’t think they’re dogs. You don’t want your dog to have an identity crisis, do you?
2. Familiarize dogs to being touched to prevent dogs from biting as early as possible but supervise dogs when they are with young children as much as possible. It is better your dog realizes early on that you and others mean no harm when you hold him since you can’t avoid touching him or him being touched by other people, especially when he has to be groomed or to be brought to the vet. However, how he is held is important to him. If he is held improperly, as most young children would hold him, he becomes terrified of being touched.
3. Another tip to prevent dogs from biting is to create a home for dogs where they can find peace, safety and security and teach others to respect it. Your dog would encounter at least several stressful situations in his lifetime and that’s all but normal in a dog’s life. However, if dogs has a haven to go home to, it will prevent dogs from biting, as they would more likely dash to their dog house rather than attack.
4. Tie your dog when walking him in public but not more than 8 hours in one place. Dogs tend to get temperamental and aggressive when tied since they experience barrier frustration. They are more likely to attack and bite when approached since it seems to them their territory is being intruded and, because they cannot flee, they fight the intruder. However, when walking your dog, he is better on than off a leash. Supervised dogs are less likely to attack and bite, and also you can keep a better eye on them with a leash and can prevent dogs from biting if they encounter a stressful situation.
5. Another way to prevent dogs from biting is to teach dogs with proper and productive behavior. Though it is highly recommended to enroll your dog, including your family, in a home obedience class, it is just as advisable to consistently reinforce correct and appropriate behavior. Your dog can’t tell the difference between rough-play and real-life situations so don’t show or teach him aggressive behavior, like chasing after or attacking others even for fun. If he exhibits aggressive behavior towards other people or animals, like growling when someone comes too close to his food bowl, seek professional help. It is important to stop dogs biting and aggressive behavior as early as possible. It’s not all that difficult to prevent dogs from biting and raise them to be friendly, especially if you see dogs as another being that deserves love and attention as much as anyone else does, as much as you do. Most often than not, dogs that attack and bite are neglected dogs. So always remember that behind a good dog is a good pet owner.

If you really want to prevent dogs from biting anyone, you need a dog obedience training to help you transform you dog’s behavior problems at the shortest possible time.

Cats are very independent creatures by nature and do not willingly follow directions given to them by humans. Their nature makes cat training difficult, but it is certainly not impossible. Though it may seem as if your cat is too independent and stubborn to change its behavior, you can accomplish training if you make a commitment to follow the right strategies and follow through with rewards and punishments. Cats are extremely intelligent but they don’t get the idea of cause and effect like human beings do. In considering a behavioral problem with cats it is highly important to act directly or you will simply be too late. After all, cats will not see any link between your reaction and the behavior they display. One of the best ways to enhance your cat or kitten training is to encourage a completely different behavior instead. This method works because cats are more receptive to positive reinforcements.

For example, if you notice your cat playing and clawing at your brand new pair of slippers, encourage your pet to play with a toy instead. As with almost all pets, cats will respond to cat training well if there is a reward tied to their good behavior. Purchase your cat’s favorite treats and be sure to reward your cat with one whenever good behavior is observed. It can also be helpful to reward your cat with your affection.

Many times a cuddle or affectionate pat can be just as effective. Though you may be thinking that your cat is disobeying you purposefully you must never harm them for any reason. Both your cat training and your relationship with your cat as a pet will be negatively effected by physical punishment.

Make sure that you focus on training that reinforces positively, and at the same time is not cruel to your pet. Training your cat isn’t going to be effortless, but if you try to train your cat armed with the correct methods you will succeed. Always be sensitive to a cat’s fight-or-flight instinct and try to be as non-aggressive as possible. Also give your cat plenty of positive reinforcement. Working this way will help your cat to behave better and will also help the two of you get closer.

Cat training is difficult because cats are naturally independent creatures. However, it is possible to train your cat using the correct methods and consistency. Cats are very intelligent but they do not understand cause and effect like humans. It is important to reinforce behaviors immediately. A great way to enhance your cat or kitten training is to replace bad behaviors with good ones (for example, giving your cat an appropriate toy instead of your shoes). Treats or physical affection are also good rewards. Remain patient, avoid physical punishment, and focus on positive reinforcement. Not only can training help a cat behavior problem, it can be a bonding experience as well.

When you are training your dog, it should not be uncomfortable for either you or your dog. With the right attitude, you and your dog can have fun during every dog training session. The more fun that you and your dog have during these sessions means that your dog will be motivated to continue its dog training.
Most dog training begins when the dog is still a puppy. At a young age, it is easy to scare a dog and even break the dog’s spirit if you are too harsh during training sessions. If you are too harsh with your dog, your dog will not be as well socialized with humans or other dogs as the dog that is treated with kindness.

It is important to remember that a young puppy is just a youngster who may be prone to make mistakes at first. It is especially important that you make sure to praise the dog more often than you tell the dog, “no. ” Your dog may enjoy different rewards for performing well including playtime with you, time with its favorite toy or food treats. Find out what your dog really likes and work that in as a reward.

Be patient with your dog. Many dog breeds have long memories. For this reason, you do not want to create bad memories about you for your dog. A dog that is treated lovingly and with respect will be easier to train than the dog that is fearful of its master.

You can make dog training for dog tricks easier on your dog. You can do this by observing your dog to see which tricks will be more natural to teach your dog. For instance, if your dog likes to carry things in its mouth already, it will be easier to teach it to fetch than if the dog has not carried anything in its mouth. A dog that likes to jump can be easier to teach to dance on its hind legs than the dog that does not like to be on its hind legs very often.

When training your dog, do not continue training until the dog is bored. Your dog will view these sessions with less enthusiasm that you would like. A bored dog will be very difficult to motivate into doing anything after awhile. Stop training while the dog still wants to continue because this will make the dog look forward to the next training session.

If you can stay your happy self during dog training, your dog will love these sessions and will try to please you even more. When a dog is trained well, the dog will be loyal and feel secure with you. You never want your dog to think that you can turn into an out of control maniac in the next minute if you do not get your way.

When you give your best to your dog, your dog will do the same for you in return. You will develop a stronger bond with a well-treated dog than with a dog with which you are harsh. It is up to you to keep your feelings under control when you are dog training. Your dog will be your obedient and loving friend for life if you treat your dog right. That is why is it important to have the right attitude when you are training your dog.

Dogs can be extremely annoying when they seem to chew on everything they can find lying on the floor, including your clothes and important papers. It becomes worse when they jump into your neighbor’s backyard and tear apart their beautiful flowers.
Does your dog behave this way? Stop worrying, there are a few solutions to control this behavior. It may take little time for them to be effective but they will work in most cases.
When the dog is alone at home with no one to play with it, he gets bored! When dogs get bored they usually chew something or start digging if left outside. One way of putting an end to its boredom is by giving him a companion of one of its own kind to keep it company when you are away. But this could also mean two chewing and digging dogs.

A better solution may be to keep your dog engaged with something. You can do this by hiding its favorite food in different places in your yard or you may simply give your dog some special toys to play with.
Your neighborhood pet supply store will stock several dog toys that you can pick from. Dog toys are pretty affordable to buy. But make sure you buy good quality toys. The size of the toys should be large enough so that the dog does not swallow them. The material from which the toys are made should be hard, rubbery plastic, rather than being soft plastic which the dogs can tear with their sharp teeth.

It is necessary that the plastic toys are hard so that the dogs don’t swallow the torn pieces of the plastic. Small plastic pieces can cause severe health problems if they remain into the dog’s stomach.
You can pick up the toys from the wide variety that is available in the store. Some can hide treats inside them and the dog has to work at getting it out of the toy. Another one may merely be a plastic dog which resembles the dog itself. Still others are in the form of food that can be stored in the freezer overnight and given to the dog to lick on a hot day.

There are many other interesting toys that you may find in your local pet supply store. You may also be able to make some toys out of some existing household stuff. But you have to ensure that the toy is safe for the dog.

It is important to to remember that if you give just one toy to your dog to play with, it will soon get bored with it. Therefore, you should have more than just one, so that you can keep swapping the toys everyday to keep it engaged with the new one. But if your dog gets bored too quickly with the toys then you can apply some edible paste on them which will keep them busy for a while. This is a commonly used technique in many shelters where they cannot afford to keep swapping toys for the dogs everyday.
Thus, there are quite a few easy things that you can do to keep your dog from tearing up the flowers in your neighbors backyard. Try these simple things and your dog will soon learn to like its toys and spend its time playing with them.

Dog whining can be very frustrating and confusing. You may not know why he is whining or how to stop it. It is often a cry for attention, but could be a sign that there is something wrong physically.

All things aside, “most reputable manufacturers of “super premium” and natural food agree with holistic veterinarians and other experts that the very best diet for your animal companion is one that you make yourself. A homemade diet, carefully balanced nutritionally and using organic foods, is closest to what Mother Nature intended” (Animal Protection Institute, 2004). Before you say you don’t have the time to prepare homemade food for your dog, take a look at the plentiful, excellent recipes available for free on the internet that show you how to prepare a large batch of meals that’ll last at least 3 days.

Once every 3 days is not much to ask. Impartial or not, I have to agree with this. As a result, I’m not even going to entertain over processed, nutrient deficient kibbles and canned foods that are packed with additives, preservatives, colourants, fillers, and meat products that really should not be called meat at all. (For some great information on commercial dog food including the standards they have to abide by, their ingredients, and how they’re made, visit the Animal Protection Institute website). So we know we should be feeding all natural or organic homemade meals to our pets, but what should these meals consist of?

There is almost as much contention with this as there is when it comes to humans. There are so many species of dogs now, and mixed breeds keep on appearing. Yet some people still say we should feed dogs like their ancestors. They say that the only biologically appropriate food for dogs is what wolves ate. Obviously the intention here is to push raw diets, but with wolves in the wild, this begins and ends with meat, some berries and grass if they feel unwell. Firstly, there is no evidence as yet to say that dogs come directly from wolves (there is a lot of DNA that does not match) and popular theorist like Darwin have said that it’s just as likely that they came from Jackals and Coyotes. Dogs are not wolves. This is highlighted by the fact that some breeds of dogs get quite unwell when fed good quality raw meats.

Dogs, like humans, are incredibly domesticated and interbred, and though this doesn’t mean they should be eating like wolves, it doesn’t mean that they should be eating highly processed, artificial, chemically enhanced rubbish either. Secondly, have you ever heard of a wolf tucking into some broccoli and eggplant? But there are merits to this approach, but only when the supporters of it contradict themselves by saying we should feed our dogs raw fruits and vegetables.

Saying dogs should eat like wolves, is a bit like saying we should be eating like apes. I can’t remember ever seeing an ape go fishing, yet fish, for most people, is incredibly beneficial for health and well being adding important, necessary, elements to our diets. It makes sense that, as with humans, vegetables, fruits, and some whole grains can be really beneficial to dogs. Most dogs are omnivores, and some dogs do better on an all vegetarian diet. Founders of the holistic vet movement, such as Dr. Richard Pitcairn and Juliette DeBairclay-Levy, have always pushed the importance of these food sources. These ingredients have been time-tested for decades. Whole grains (not corn and preferably not wheat), fruits and vegetables are a wonderful addition to a balanced, biologically-appropriate diet. So, it seems that the best food for your dog would be a homemade meal consisting of all natural or organic, biologically appropriate food consisting of a mixture of meat, whole grains, vegetables, and fruit.

(Did you see I didn’t say raw? Just be aware, some veggies and meats can be harmful to some breeds if not cooked so as to either kill bacteria and reduce fat content of the meat, and break down some toxins that sit in the hard skins of some veggies – that’s why humans shouldn’t eat raw broccoli either! Knowing that an all natural or organic meal made at home is considered the best, it still doesn’t address the question of balance. Feeding your dog with quality ingredients is a great beginning, but how much of each is right for your pet?

There seems to be little consensus on the general nutritional requirements for dogs. Experts who have spent years and years researching this have come to varying conclusions. Some experts purport that each breed needs to be fed a breed specific diet. This may be a little too specific for some but I think it’s heading in the right direction.

This is the approach that seems most realistic and appropriate to me because it mimics the approach to human nutrition that I follow. Through years of personal training and helping people achieve optimal health and well being, I discovered Metabolic Typing. It is the only nutrition and lifestyle approach that I’ve found that truly treats each person as an individual. One of its best attributes is the process you go through to fine tune diet and lifestyle requirements on a continual basis. There is a lot to learn from this approach. It is person specific, and is current in that you re-test yourself every sixth months to check your requirements at that time. Our lifestyles and environments change, as do our pets, so it makes sense to re asses our dietary intake regularly, and our pets’ to see if they’ve changed. Only in this way can we, as humans, maintain a proper balance. It makes sense for this to be the case with our pets.

Just like human beings, each dog is a unique individual. Yes they’ll have similar characteristics and general dispositions as their dominant breed and the genes they’ve inherited from their parents, but they’ll also have unique characteristics given to them by nature, and their environment. It seems fairly obvious to say then that no pre-made dog food can claim to be THE best, unless it has been tailor made for your pet by a specialist (there are a few people on the web that do this). But…. there are plenty of pet food companies out there which are well within their rights to call their pet food superior. Most of these suggest mixing their all natural or organic food at home with ingredients that are missing from their food, to prepare a fresh home made meal. The ingredient specifics of these and their importance are debated, but on the whole, the less processed the food is the better. Look for ingredients made up of whole foods (foods that haven’t been altered). So how much is enough?

Without getting breed specific, and understanding that I follow those experts who suggest macro nutrient levels to be specific for your breed of dog, here are the generally agreed upon amounts.

•	The protein percentage should be about 1/3 or more of the whole meal. Meat is the obvious choice for the bulk of this macronutrient. (Some dogs don’t handle meat well).

•	Fat should make up about 1/5 or more, dogs process good fats well. There is a reasonable amount of natural fat in meats, so you shouldn’t need to watch this macronutrient nutrient too closely if feeding meats to your dog.

•	That leaves a little under ½ the rest should be veggies, fruits, and whole grains (not corn, and preferably no wheat).

What is the best food for your dog? The simple answer, if your dog’s health is good, vet bills aren’t streaming in and its coat is healthy, then change may not be necessary. Be aware though that a lot of the conditions and diseases that commercial pet foods cause build up over time. If you are suspicious that there is anything at all wrong, or you just want to see if you can give your best friend even more health and vitality, then the time is right to start preparing all natural or organic home made meals from meat, veggies, fruits, and whole grains (minus corn and wheat). Check with a holistic vet near you, and the valuable expert resources on the internet for recipe ideas and do’s and don’ts. Just remember, as with humans, balance is the key. Some raw and some cooked, but all natural and organic, should keep the vet bills at bay, and your pets’ ready for play!

For any new pet moving to a new home can be a very traumatic experience and in some cases even more so for a pet bird. Many times if bird was hand fed as a baby it may have stronger attachments then other birds. However if you take the time setting up your birds new environment properly with some extra care, it will a bit easier for your pet bird to make the adjustment to it’s new home.
One of the most important things you should first do when you bring your new bird home is to place its cage in an area that does not have an over abundance of activity or confusion. Even though we are trying to make sure our new friend doesn’t feel like he is caught up in the middle of all the household action. We also want to make sure that he does not feel all alone by putting him in some unused room by him self. Ideally you want to find a spot in your home where he can still interact with you, but there won’t be constant loud noises or lots of sudden movements that can continually startle him.

In situations where you already have another bird in your home, it would be best to segregate your new arrival for about thirty days. The reason you want to do this is to help ensure that if your new bird has an infectious disease, you won’t infect your original bird. When creating a quarantine for your bird, it would be best to keep him on floor in a completely different room of the house. Also make sure to keep their food and water dishes apart and do not interchange them even after washing. If your home has a central air conditioning system, you may have difficulty being able to ensure a true quarantine. Since these kinds of air conditioning system employ air duct systems which carry the air from one room to other rooms in the house. Regardless it is still a good idea to quarantine the new bird than immediately putting exposing him to your original pet even if you have air ducts.

You should also make sure that any new bird you bring home is in good health. So be sure to take him to your local avian veterinarian for a general check up. Your veterinarian will be able to check and make sure that your new pet bird is free of any contagious diseases, worms or bacterial infections. This is even more important in cases were you have a hand fed baby bird, the reason being is that if the bird wasn’t properly hand fed it is at a higher risk for having a bacterial infection.

When ever you bring a new bird home you should closely monitor their eating habits during their initial adjustment period. If you notice that your bird doesn’t seem to be eating at all during the initial twenty four hours, you should try and offer him some spray millet. Spray millet is pretty much a dessert for birds. Another option is to offer him a whole grain cereal which may coax a frightened bird into eating. If you just brought home a newly weaned baby bird and he is not eating and is also making various squalling noises, your new bird may have regressed some and will need to be hand fed slightly longer. In these situations call your breeder for assistance.

If for some reason you cannot get in contact with your breeder, odds are you can buy some hand feeding formula from your local pet shop. To use the formula simply mix up a tiny quantity of the hand feeding formula until it reaches a consistency close to that of pudding. Then offer some of the mixture to your bird by putting some of the formula on a plastic spoon. If all is well he should eat it right off the spoon.
Lastly, you should not be afraid to interact with your new pet bird, just make sure you don’t get out of hand and overdo it. At first you should only try to work with him for 10 minutes at a time and no more. If he continually flies away and you notice your self having to chase and catch him, Just put him away back in his cage for a bit until he starts to calm down. Every time you chase and catch your bird it cause him some stress, which is something we are trying to minimize for our new friend.

If you want your cat to be able to sit, stay and heel, then perhaps you should consider a dog for a pet instead. Additionally, if you want your cat to use your toilet, this article cannot help you. This article is for those of us who would be content to simply train a cat to use the litter box, and a scratching post, as opposed to any other objects in the house that the cat currently deems suitable for its bathroom and nail file. A cat cannot be trained to do stuff other than what a cat does. The only purpose that cat training serves is in controlling its behavior. The cats learn by experience. If the experience is good, they will try to repeat it. If the experience is unpleasant, they will try to avoid it in the future. They enjoy raking the furniture with their claws, so they continue to do it. But it’s quite a shock when they stick their nose in a candle flame, so they won’t do that again.

When conducting cat training, remember that reprimands are completely ineffective. If you catch you cat doing something wrong and reprimand him, he will act up when you’re not there. If you punish your cat after the fact, he won’t associate the punishment with the act. Many cats misbehave because they believe you’re not giving them enough attention; give them attention and they will continue to act in ways that you don’t want.

Many owners become frustrated because they can’t catch the cat in the act of the crime, so instead they show the cat the evidence, usually a wet spot on the carpet or pieces of shredded drapery and discipline the cat at that time. However kitten training is pretty straightforward and easy. Provide them with a litter box and show it to them, they’ll use it. Put their little paws on a scratching post and watch them go to town. A common malpractice in cat training is grabbing the cat, pointing out the wet spot, then dragging him to the litter box and forcing him to dig in the litter.

What the cat is learning is that being reached for by the owner is a bad experience and that the litter box is a torture chamber. Behavioral problems in cats can be eliminated with the help of these resources, and a program of gradual retraining. Common problems such as litter box avoidance, excessive howling, biting, or destructive scratching should first be addressed by eliminating any potential physical causes.

If you want to train a cat or perform kitten training to do what dogs do, then a cat is not the best pet. Cat training only helps in controlling its behavior. Do not reprimand the cat as it will keep misbehaving. Do not expect to punish a cat long after it has misbehaved; it will not accept proof. Also, do not grab a cat and force it into the litter box. Behavior problems can be removed by using the tips and allowing ample time. Rude behavior and unresponsive training should be taken care of by removing physical causes.

For a puppy, dog fences are essential for their security. You may feel bad about keeping them fenced in but you would feel worse if something life threatening or dangerous happened to your puppy because you allowed him to roam free. In some areas it is compulsory to have dog fences but even if it isn’t we advise that you have them. Imagine how upset and guilty you would feel if a passing car ran down your puppy or dog. Act responsibly and make sure that your pet is secure. If your dog is going to be outside for any great length of time in a fenced area, he will also need protection from the sun, rain or other weather elements so when you are ready to fence of an area make sure you have enough space for the covered area your dog will require.

Match the fenced area to the breed of dog you own. If you have a big dog he will need more space and a higher fence. You should also make sure that the posts are positioned deeply into the ground because large and small dogs are smart; they can spend hours creating an escape tunnel. Working out your intended use of this area is also important. If you only intend to use the compound when you are at home, you probably don’t need to use particularly expensive or high quality materials.

However, if you intend that your dog is going to spend a lot of time in the compound, whilst you are at work or out then you will need sturdier materials and more space for your dog to move around and play. You might not feel very happy about confining your dog to a fenced area but if you don’t have an alternative then it is your job to ensure that you have done the best you can to provide security and comfort for your dog.

Your dog may well have learned the command “stay” but just like humans, dogs will become bored if they have to stay in one position for hours. As a valued member of your family you should treat your dog in the same way that you would a child. You would never consider leaving a child outside, unsupervised and without protection and the same rules apply to your dog.

When you are at home, and in a position to supervise your dog, let him out of the compound, take him for a walk or a run around the local park. You dog needs as much if not more exercise than you do. It is often necessary to set limits in the house, particularly if your dog is boisterous and energetic.

There may be areas of the house where you don’t want the dog to go. There is a range of indoor fencing or gates available on the market for this purpose and sometimes a baby gate is sufficient, depending on the size of your dog. Indoor fencing is excellent if your dog is going through a chewing phase!!!

Pets and animals are an important parts our world as well as the natural world. As humans we benefit from having the companionship of an animal. They benefit from us as well. They depend on us to take car of them and keep them healthy. Lots of people are encouraged to enjoy the benefits of having a common household pet. This could include cats, dogs, birds, small rodents, fish, reptiles, and many more. Because wild animals are dangerous to people and can carry many diseases they are not recommended to be domesticated. You should never adopt wild animals as pets or bring them in your home, even if the animal appears to be friendly. Doing some research you can find a pet that is just right for you and your family.

Certain animals have certain needs; it is very important to know ahead of time what those are and if you are going to be able to get that animal every thing that it needs to live healthy and happy. Alternative Health Supplements offers a bunch of products that are great for keeping your pets healthy and in great shape. For example, fish are less work to take of than a dog

. If you can not give a dog all of the affection and caring that it needs it may be easier to clean a fishbowl once a week and feed a few flakes of food every other day to a fish. Even different breeds of dogs and cats need more caring and have different requirements. An example of this would be; a greyhound dog is build to run there for part of caring for this dog would be making sure the dog could run everyday for at least an hour. With any animal you get as pet you are going to want to keep them healthy. Learning and knowing signs of unhealthiness in some pets are important to keeping their health.

Note that these signs are not going to apply to all animals but most. Abnormal discharges from nose, eyes, or other body openings, loss of appetite, noted weight loss or weight gain, and excessive water consumption are all important and should be checked out by a veterinarian. Difficult, abnormal, or uncontrolled waste elimination are signs too. In knowing your pet’s health you may want to also notice if they have any sudden abnormal behavior, sudden viciousness, or lethargy, this could be a huge sign they are not well. Lumps and bumps, excessive licking in an area, limping, difficulty getting up or lying down, head shaking, scratching and biting in a certain part of the body could all also mean there is an illness or injury as well. Any hair loss, open sores, or foul breath could be signs as well.

If your pet has any of these signs getting help from a vet is recommended. Also know that is essential to read about diseases that your chosen pet is capable of getting and if there are vaccinations or if those diseases can be transmitted to humans as well. Please note you are more likely to get germs from eating food and drinking water than you are getting a disease or illness from your pet.

Most people have a liking for pet animals and for them cats are no exceptions. People may find a variety of cats depending on their body types. It is easy to spot the difference between the stocky Persian and the long, lean, Abyssinian cat. To see how well they differ, it is best to see these cats in action. Different Body Types: Given below is the information of body types of different cats:

The city of Newport Beach Fire Department has approved installation of plastic bird spikes on the main lifeguard station in Newport Beach California. Eric Bauer, Lifeguard Battalion Chief says “we have been fighting pigeons and seagulls for years on the lifeguard station. The poop was just pilling up on the roofs and access areas. Each night the dew would set in and drag all of the bird feces on to the roof access creating a horrendous smell and a certain health hazard. ” They had tried sonic devices and motion controlled sprinkler systems in the past to try to get rid of the birds, but to no avail. Bauer then contacted John Rabun of J. M. Rabun Company to help him come up with a solution.
Rabun suggested using a product from Bird-B-Gone, Inc. , to keep the birds from landing on the roof area. Bird-B-Gone, Inc. is the largest manufacturer and distributor of pest bird deterrents in North America.

Jeff Watts from Bird-B-Gone met Rabun at the lifeguard station to help suggest a bird control system that would work. Watts says, “they have a large infestation of pigeons and seagulls on the roof area, the best solution is some sort of physical deterrent that keeps the birds from landing and roosting on the roof. I suggested using the Bird Spikes on the roof peaks and edges. This will make it difficult for the birds to land and they will choose another more suitable area. ” Battalion Chief Bauer chose to us the Plastic Bird Spikes from Bird-B-Gone, Inc. .

The plastic spikes are made of a sturdy polycarbonate plastic, they are durable and virtually invisible when installed. The plastic spikes carry a 5-year Guarantee and are the lowest cost bird spike available.
Rabun says “the installation of the Bird Spikes was very easy to do. In no time we had most of the roof done!” He used adhesive to adhere the spikes to the roof peaks and edges of the roof. They used the clear plastic spikes on the roof as it is virtually invisible from a distance, and they used the white spikes on the parapet wall that surrounds the roof access as the white spike matches the white paint.

Along with the Bird Spikes Rabun is installing the Bird Spiders by Bird-B-Gone, Inc. . The Bird Spiders have eight stainless steel “arms” that move with the breeze discouraging birds from landing. They are installing the Bird Spiders on the open areas of the roof to keep Gulls from landing there. Jeff Watts of Bird-B-Gone, Inc. says “ this is what we call an integrated bird control solution. Sometimes more than on method or product is needed to keep pest birds away. ”

Chief Bauer says, “ we are pleased to finally be rid of the countless pigeons and seagulls from our main life guard facility in Newport Beach. The building is a big part of the charm of he Newport Beach Pier and surrounding area, it just has much better “eye” appeal without all of the birds and their poop!”

Article from: My Family UK Extra thought needs to go into choosing a pet if you’re looking for something out of the ordinary, from equipment to finding a pet-sitter. Risks In choosing an ususual or exotic pet, unusual pet you need to consider a lot of aspect, some of which you’ll have realised, and some of which you hadn’t. Check our guide below, just to make sure you’re prepared. One major (and often unexpected) risk is that you might be contributing to the trade in wild and endangered animals, which are captured for the exotic pet market.

This is physically and emotionally damaging to the animals involved, and many species are illegal to keep as pets. Make sure you do your research and purchase your pet from a reputable breeder who provides the correct documentation.

1) Reptiles Snakes, lizards and other reptiles are shy creatures that can be difficult to look after, often requiring specialist knowledge and equipment. Don’t get one on a whim or if you want to cuddle your pet and take it for walks. Need to know Specialist equipment – tanks, ultra-violet lighting and heaters Diet – varies considerably between species Danger level – some species can be extremely poisonous and require careful handling Advice – best to do your research and try and get a specialist vet

2) Tortoises and terrapins These shelled reptiles make lifelong pets – tortoises can live for more than 50 years and terrapins for 30. Some species can also grow rather large, so bear that in mind. Take care to avoid getting an animal that was captured in the wild and find a specialist vet you can go to for health advice. Need to know Specialist equipment – may require humidity, temperature and light control, tortoises are hibernating animals so special provisions must be made for this Diet – varies according to species Danger level – not very, although they may bite Advice – most illness in turtles and terrapins stems from problems with diet or housing so do your research and get this right

3) Insects Most insects require little space or attention and can be fascinating to watch and learn about. Stick insects are a good, low-maintenance option. Need to know Specialist equipment – can usually be kept in an old aquarium or in a specially-bought container. More exotic species may need carefully controlled environments Diet – varies according to species Danger level – some spiders and other insects can be extremely poisonous Advice – most insects have quite short lifespans but tarantulas can live for up to 20 years and other insects can breed in captivity, so they can still be a long-term commitment

4) Other ideas for unusual pets: Worms – try setting up a wormery in your back garden, also a good way to recycle kitchen waste into compost Frogs – either encourage native frogs by building a pond, or try your hand at keeping more exotic species Ferrets – these make lively interesting pets, but need a lot of space and can be smelly Farm animals – you may not have room for a whole herd of livestock, but a few chickens, goats or pigs can be interesting alternative pets for those with extra space.
